What people often forget in the discussion about refugees is the 850,000 Jews who fled or were expelled from Arab states, after facing centuries of oppression in the Middle East. Most of them found safety in Israel - their ancestral homeland.

When over 850,000 Jews fled or were expelled from Arab states, those governments also stole their land. The amount of this stolen land is nearly five times the entire size of the state of Israel pre-1967.

Expulsion of Jews from Middle East and North African Countries
After Israel’s rebirth in 1948, over 850,000 Jews fled the rising persecution or were expelled from Arab and Muslim lands. They became homeless even though some of their communities were over 2,000 years old. A fledgling country of approximately 650,000 inhabitants, Israel nonetheless began absorbing not only survivors of the Holocaust but also Jews fleeing from Arab countries.
